How to Use FPL Predicted Points

The official fixture difficulty is a 1 to 5 that sits still. The odds do not. FPL predicted points turns those prices into a points number you can sort a squad by, and the fixture ticker turns them into a read on the next few weeks.

You still pick the team. The pages tell you who is set up to return, and which clubs are about to have a kind week or a horrible one.

The players

The main page is every player, with predicted points and the per-90 numbers, including defensive contributions. I sort by predicted points when I am choosing between two players in the same price bracket, then I check minutes. A nice per-90 from someone who plays an hour is a different asset from a 90-minute player with a slightly worse rate.

Rankings is that list already ordered, if you just want to scroll it.

Rate my team takes your FPL id and talks about the captain and the transfers. I use it when the squad already exists and I want a second look at the armband. It will not hand you a new fifteen.

The team builder is the blank sheet. £100m, three per club, same as the game, and it scores the side as you add people. Useful on a wildcard, when the rules are the annoying part and you want them enforced while you move players around.

Defensive contributions

The two-point bonus lands when a player hits the action count in a match. Ten for a defender. Twelve for a midfielder or a forward, because ball recoveries count for them too. The defensive contributions page is who is actually getting there, per 90, with enough minutes that two busy games do not shoot up the list. I look here for cheap defenders. Premium attackers usually have to score the ordinary way.

The weeks ahead

The ticker scores each club's upcoming games from the odds: win chance, goals, clean sheet. It opens on the next six gameweeks, and you can stretch it to twelve. Blanks and doubles are marked, because a kind rating means nothing if the club is not playing.

A "2" that is priced like a coin-flip away trip should not look like a "2" at home to a side that cannot score. That is the whole reason the ticker ignores the fixed 1 to 5. Attack, defence and goal threat on there come from the points model, so those columns are Pro. The odds-based difficulty is the column I start with anyway.

How to use it

  1. Sort the players you are choosing between — Open FPL predicted points and compare predicted points, then minutes.
  2. Read the next six weeks — The ticker shows the run from the odds, longer if the transfer is one you cannot undo.
  3. Score the squad you have — Rate my team for the captain and transfers, or the builder if you are starting again.
  4. Check the defenders separately — Cheap ones live and die by the defensive contribution thresholds.

FAQ

Will this pick my team?

It prices players and fixtures. Rate my team will talk about a captain and about transfers. The lineup is still yours.

Why doesn't the ticker match FPL's 1 to 5?

It is built from the betting odds for those games. The official number can sit still all week while the match has been re-priced.
